Goal 1: International Mindedness
I kept my teaching goals for this year in line with the school’s strategic plan, in particular International Mindedness (IM) and Translanguaging. The reason for this was because I could see the immense value that this could bring to my teaching practices as well as learning engagements.
This year, I believe my most powerful tool was to model IM. This required me to intentionally demonstrate the learner profile attributes that implicitly model IM such as caring, open-minded, reflective etc. in my interactions with students. This allowed me to use the learner profile attributes as the vehicle for international mindedness.
This also meant that I was required to model the acceptance and acknowledgment of other languages and its value within the learning process, which very naturally lead into my second goal, Translanguaging.

Grade 5 PYPX song - A Place For You
We’re different kinda people with different kinda ways
Born with a different face, from a different place
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, so they say
Everyone’s different yet we’re all the same
Express who you are, let people know
What’s in your heart, let it glow
We’re a rainbow of color, language and life,
It’s all about expressing more about love.
Chorus
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for you
Bridge
Let your heart speak
Keep your head held high
You are perfect
In every way
We’re different pieces
In the puzzle
We’re all connected
So let’s show love
Chorus
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for you
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for you
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for you
We’ve got a place for you
We’ve got a place for you
You do you
Stay true, you belong
We’ve got a place for you
Expressions of difference in your own special way
Dance, pray, eat, play. No more “they”
Express who you are, let people know
Everyone’s equal, that you can show
